Dan Herbeck
Dan Herbeck, 45, has been a reporter at The Buffalo News for 23 years. Born in
Mineral Wells, Texas, he was raised in Amherst, a town in Western New York.
A graduate of the St. Bonaventure
University Mass Communications Department, Herbeck is an investigative reporter
specializing in crime, fraud and the courts. With his frequent Buffalo News
partner Michael Beebe, he has won national and state awards for investigative
stories on telemarketing fraud, bankruptcy fraud, government corruption and the
New York state prison system.
Herbeck plays and coaches indoor
soccer. He and his wife, Joyce, a middle school guidance counselor, have two
sons, Richard and Christopher.
He is at work, with co-author Lou Michel, on AMERICAN
TERRORIST: TIMOTHY MCVEIGH AND THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING (Regan Books,
2001), what will be a highly controversial biography of one of the most notorious criminals in
the history of the United States.
